Call for Papers (pdf): Submission deadline: May 15, 2024
2024 marks the 150th anniversary of the first issuance of the Swedish krona. In order to commemorate this event, Sveriges Riksbank is organizing a conference on “Monetary and Financial History: Lessons for the 21st Century”. The conference will be held in person in Stockholm, Sweden, on November 21–22, 2024.
We welcome theoretical as well as empirical papers that use historical data to address questions relevant for current policy issues, and we will consider both completed papers and preliminary drafts. Each presented paper will have one discussant. Presenters and discussants are expected to be present in person during the conference.
Christina Romer (University of California Berkeley) and Charles Calomiris (Columbia Business School) will deliver keynote speeches.
Submissions should be made by sending the paper in PDF format to conference@riksbank.se. The submission deadline is May 15, 2024.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Monetary regimes
- Inflation
- Central banking
- Banking
- Financial market regulation
- Currency and payments
- Financial crises
- Liquidity support
Papers will be selected by the Scientific Committee, which consists of Anna Grodecka-Messi (Sveriges Riksbank), Stephan Luck (Federal Reserve Bank of New York), Anders Ögren (Uppsala University), Ulf Söderström (Sveriges Riksbank) and Andreas Westermark (Sveriges Riksbank). Authors of accepted papers will be informed by June 15, 2024. Economy-class travel and accommodation costs will be covered by Sveriges Riksbank for paper presenters and discussants not based in the Stockholm area.
The program and other information about the conference will be posted on the Riksbank website (www.riksbank.se/en-gb/research/conferences). Questions about the conference can be directed to conference@riksbank.se.
