Call for Papers
19th South-Eastern European Economic Research Workshop
6-7 November 2025

Bank of Albania is pleased to announce the 19th South-Eastern European Economic Research Workshop, to be held on 6 and 7 November 2025, in Tirana, Albania.
The main objective of this workshop is to bring together central bankers, academics, market practitioners and policymakers from the region and beyond to present and discuss their latest empirical research in economics and finance. The workshop aims to foster long-term research collaboration and encourage interaction among participants across various fields of interests. As per our tradition, we welcome multidisciplinary research and encourage both theoretical and empirical contributions on topics relevant to central banking.

Suggested topics
We invite theoretical and empirical submissions on the following topics, but not limited to:

  • Macroeconomic Policy and Global Uncertainty: Navigating Risks in a Geo-economic Fragmented World
  • Structural determinants of Inflation Dynamics and Policy Coordination
  • Macro-financial Vulnerabilities and the Role of Monetary and Macroprudential Policies: Evaluating the Effectiveness of Current Regulatory Frameworks
  • New Challenges for Central Banking in an Era of Geopolitical Tensions, Technological Change, and Environmental Pressures
  • Labor Market Structural Changes, Demographic Shifts, and the Challenges of Artificial Intelligence: Implications for Macroeconomic Policy

Keynote Speakers
The event will feature three keynote lectures by the following distinguished economists:
Carlo Altavilla (European Central Bank), Domenico Giannone (International Monetary Fund), and Michele Modugno (Federal Reserve Board of Governors)

Submission Guidelines
Authors interested in presenting their research, are welcome to submit extended abstracts or, preferably, full paper drafts along with a short bio, to: BoAresearchworkshop@bankofalbania.org. The submission deadline is 1 September 2025. In your submission, please tell us whether you would be willing to act as a discussant of another paper presented in the workshop. Submitted papers will be reviewed by our Selection Committee, which will notify the authors of accepted papers by 15 September 2025.
