Gender, money and finance

Date:   Monday, 25 May 2020 - POSTPONED
Venue: Oesterreichische Nationalbank
           Otto-Wagner-Platz 3, 1090 Vienna

The conference has been postponed over concerns about the rapid spread of COVID-19 and related restrictive measures by the Austrian Government.

By invitation only

This conference deals with selected gender-related topics in money and finance.

  • Does gender diversity affect economic outcomes, both at the macro and micro levels?
  • Is economic policy decision-making gender specific? Are there typical male or female decision and behavioural patterns? Would a more balanced gender mix in policy making institutions such as central banks make for different or even better decisions, e.g. due to a greater diversity of views?
  • Is risk behaviour gender specific? Would a more balanced gender mix make for a “safer” financial system?
  • How does gender affect perceptions of economic reality, including for instance, inflation, how does it affect financial literacy, for what reasons, and what implications can we draw from differences?

To investigate these issues, the event combines insights from academic research with those of senior policy makers and financial practitioners.
